For the original 600 f/4, from 1988

The first EF 600mm f/4L USM is 6,000g, has no stabilisation, and dates from 1988. It is also still a 600mm f/4, which is why they keep changing hands rather than going in skips.

This cap is made for the front of this exact lens and clicks straight on, no adapter ring and nothing to thread. Two stainless springs hold it, so it comes off with one hand and goes back the same way, gloves on. The raised anti-slip ring lets you rest the lens face down without it sliding.

It clears the ET-161 hood.

Canon stopped supplying accessories for this lens a long time ago. We still make a cap for it, because a lens this good does not stop being worth protecting just because it left the catalogue.

Check which version you have. Canon made several of these and they take different caps. The name is printed around the front of the barrel. This is the original non-IS version. If your barrel says IS, IS II or IS III you need a different cap.

About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs.
