The EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM is 4,500g and 461mm long, a lens that goes up in the morning and stays up. The front element is exposed for the whole session, and covering it fast when weather arrives is the whole job of a cap.
This cap is made for the front of this exact lens and clicks straight on, no adapter ring and nothing to thread. Two stainless springs hold it, so it comes off with one hand and goes back the same way, gloves on. The raised anti-slip ring lets you rest the lens face down without it sliding.
It clears the ET-155 hood.
About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs. It resists heat and moisture, which matters on a lens left set up in the open for hours.

The lens cap exceeded my expectations. Perfect for my large lens
I was totally amazed at how they fit both my canon EF 400 mm and EF 800 mm lenses. They slip into the end of the lens and are snug tight where they don't shake loose or fall out.
