CAMDEC Lens Cap for Canon FD 600mm f4L / FD 800mm F5.6L

For the FD super teles, from 1981

These are manual focus lenses from 1981 with built-in hoods and 48mm drop-in filters, and they are increasingly shot on mirrorless bodies through an adapter. Canon has not made a part for them in forty years.

This cap is made for the front of this exact lens and clicks straight on, no adapter ring and nothing to thread. Two stainless springs hold it, so it comes off with one hand and goes back the same way, gloves on. The raised anti-slip ring lets you rest the lens face down without it sliding.

One cap covers both the New FD 600mm f/4.5 and the New FD 800mm f/5.6L, and it works with the built-in hood extended or retracted.

Canon stopped supplying accessories for this lens a long time ago. We still make a cap for it, because a lens this good does not stop being worth protecting just because it left the catalogue.

About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs. This is about as far from a mass-produced part as it gets, which is rather the point on lenses like these.
