The 200-400mm f/4G was the safari zoom for years, and a lot of them are still working. At 3,275g it comes off the mount and goes into a bag between drives, which is exactly when the front element is most at risk.

This cap is made for the front of this exact lens and clicks straight on, no adapter ring and nothing to thread. Two stainless springs hold it, so it comes off with one hand and goes back the same way, gloves on. The raised anti-slip ring lets you rest the lens face down without it sliding.

It clears the HK-30 hood forward or reversed.

About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs.
