For the 400E FL

The f/2.8E FL took a kilo off the previous 400mm, down to 3,800g, and it became the standard fast prime on touchlines everywhere. Those lenses live in and out of bags between fixtures.

This cap is made for the front of this exact lens and clicks straight on, no adapter ring and nothing to thread. Two stainless springs hold it, so it comes off with one hand and goes back the same way, gloves on. The raised anti-slip ring lets you rest the lens face down without it sliding.

It clears the hood mounted forward or reversed, so the hood can stay on between shots.

About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs.
