The Sigma APO 300-800mm F5.6 EX DG HSM is 5,880g and 544mm long, a constant-aperture 800mm zoom that has no equivalent from anyone, then or now. People who own one tend to keep it for decades.
This cap is made for the front of this exact lens and clicks straight on, no adapter ring and nothing to thread. Two stainless springs hold it, so it comes off with one hand and goes back the same way, gloves on. The raised anti-slip ring lets you rest the lens face down without it sliding.
It clears the hood mounted forward or reversed.
Sigma has not supplied accessories for this lens in years. We still make a cap for it.
About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs. On a lens this size the cap takes real knocks, which is why the springs and screws are steel rather than moulded plastic clips.
