The f/4E FL dropped the 600mm from 5,900g to 3,810g, which is why so many wildlife photographers moved to it and started walking further with it. A lens that leaves the vehicle needs a cap that survives being knocked about, not a soft cover.

This cap is made for the front of this exact lens and clicks straight on, no adapter ring and nothing to thread. Two stainless springs hold it, so it comes off with one hand and goes back the same way, gloves on. The raised anti-slip ring lets you rest the lens face down without it sliding.

It clears the HK-34 hood forward or reversed.

About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs.
