Sigma's 500mm F4 DG OS HSM Sports is 3,310g and built like the first-party lenses it competes with, which is why it ended up in a lot of hides at roughly half the price of a Canon or Nikon 500mm.

This cap is made for the front of this exact lens and clicks straight on, no adapter ring and nothing to thread. Two stainless springs hold it, so it comes off with one hand and goes back the same way, gloves on. The raised anti-slip ring lets you rest the lens face down without it sliding.

It clears the hood mounted forward or reversed.

About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs.
