A hard cap for the 400 GM front element
Sony protects the front of the 400 GM with a soft slip-on cover. It does nothing if the lens tips against a fence post, and it is easy to leave behind at a location.
Our cap is made for the front of this specific lens. It clicks on and locks with two stainless springs, with no adapter ring and nothing to thread, so it goes on in a second. The anti-slip ring around the face means you can set the lens down front first on concrete without it skating away.
It clears the ALC-SH155 hood in both positions, so the hood can stay mounted for shooting or reversed for the bag.
Most 400 GM owners are shooting sport or wildlife where the lens comes off the monopod and goes into a bag several times a day. This is built for that cycle rather than for storage.
About the 3D printing. It is not hobby filament. It is fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic, printed by us in the USA, with stainless steel screws and springs. Buyers who were sceptical about the process tell us it arrived feeling more solid than the OEM caps they already owned.

I was somewhat put off by the 3d printer aspect but the lens cap is very sturdy, solid and extremely well made - fits like a glove. I also bought the hood because of the shorter mount - also fits perfectly. It was delivered to me in BC one month BEFORE the predicted date of delivery - There was an unexpected customs charge of $24.
Love the lens covers. Easy to place and remove. Durable quality and look great!
This lens cap fits perfectly, and it feels more secure and sturdy than my other OEM caps.
